Downtown Cleveland Renaissance Wedding Photographer

Courtney and Mike had an epic downtown wedding at the Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland! Their laughter and smiles carried through the day as they celebrated the joining of their lives together. It was a blast being their wedding photographers!

Courtney and Mike met when Mike came to visit Purdue with friends of Courtney’s that she had swam with there. He had met them in Kansas City, where they had moved after college, and they invited him to joine when they decided to come in for the weekend.Courtney met up with her friends at the pool when they arrived and they told her they needed to go pick up their friend (Mike) before they went to dinner.

When they got to where Mike was, Mike and Courtney were introduced. Mike’s first question was, “Where are your from?” Courtney responded, “Cleveland” and Mike immediately made a disgusted face as he said, “Ewww.”

Courtney was a bit taken aback by this response, as were many of her friends. It seemed a bit rude, since they had just met.

However, Mike lifted up his newly purchased Purdue shirt to reveal a Pittsburgh shirt with a Steelers logo. Being a very avid Browns fan, Courtney immediately understood his initial response and started laughing, telling him to get that shirt out of here.

Throughout the rest of the weekend, Mike and Courtney continued to talk a lot (which is a bit unusual for Courtney with people she doesn’t know very well). In fact, that night at dinner with all her previous swim coaches, they were all surprised to see Courtney talk so much and had though that Mike and Courtney had know each other a while.

After that weekend, Mike and Courtney continued to text and call each other, and about a month later, Courtney came out to visit Kansas City (all the way from Cleveland) and they went on their first date to a pizza place.

After that weekend, Courtney moved to St. Louis for her year of residency, which made them only four hours apart and they continued to go back and forth between the two cities on different weekends.

For the next three-and-a-half years both Courtney and Mike moved around quite a bit, but they always made sure to find the time to see each other. Then, in December of 2018, Mike finally moved to Cleveland so they could be closer to each other. At the end of that summer, Mike proposed to Courtney after a two hour hike up a mountain in Kachemak Bay State Park, Alaska and Courtney said “Yes!!”

Fast forward to their wedding day!

As the bride and groom were getting ready in different suites in the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, there was lots of laughter and fun with friends. Everyone was excited for the big day ahead.

Courtney and Mike shared an intimate first look on the staircase in the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel lobby. It is always a joy to intimately photograph the first time a couple sees each other on their wedding day. We love all the emotions present.

Next, the full bridal party hopped on a trolly and headed over to the West Bank Flats for wedding photography. It was a great crew with tons of good moments.

After some refreshments at a bar, everyone headed back to the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel for the wedding ceremony and reception.

In a simple wedding ceremony officiated by a friend of Courtney and Mike, this happy couple pledged their lives to each other.

Following their wedding, Courtney and Mike had a great reception, complete with yummy food, a live band, and happy friends and family.

A great time was had by all.

Courtney and Mike, we wish you the very best in your future together. We had a blast being your wedding photographers!
